Welcome!

We are a non-profit project providing hands-on opportunities for communities to connect with nature through science, education, and storytelling. We are an extension of 30x30 Indonesia, an award-winning, youth-led campaign founded in 2021 to advocate for better marine protected areas through Target 3 of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.

30X30 CORAL GARDEN (BALI, INDONESIA)

Indonesia lies at the heart of the Coral Triangle - a precious biodiversity hotspot vulnerable to the impacts of climate change. However, local divers in Tulamben, Bali have observed the lack of interest, particularly among Indonesians, to meaningfully conserve our ocean. This 360° short film shares the coral conservation efforts spearheaded by 30x30 Indonesia, an award-winning youth-led project that advocates for the protection of 30% of the global ocean by 2030 (30x30) by providing hands-on opportunities for people to learn and call for better marine protected areas. Home to the 30x30 Coral Garden, volunteer divers in Tulamben share their hopes and visions for a more sustainable future for our ocean.

30x30 Indonesia launched in 2021 as a campaign for the protection of 30% of the world's ocean by 2030, leading up to its adoption into the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and the G20 Leaders Declaration. Since then, we have focused on fostering regenerative marine ecosystems and empowering communities to connect with the ocean.

"The Diverseas experience is very interesting, delivered knowledge and understanding about the ocean in a fun way. I really enjoyed my experience and learned a lot from it."

30x30 Indonesia and Diverseas has been funded through grants and support from the National Geographic Society, North American Association for Environmental Education, Blue Marine Foundation, EarthEcho International, Global Citizen Youth Leaders Award, NGS+TNC Extern Seed Funding, and the Millennium Oceans Prize by the Remmer Family Foundation.
